Although potentially charming, this thatched cottage, located in a family-friendly suburb in Cape Town, was anything but.

Our client bought this ‘fixer-upper’ in Newlands because she wanted a bigger space than her city apartment allowed to entertain friends and family.

The existing structure had good bones so we focused on a modern face-lift: cladding external and internal walls in white, weather-proof timber, replacing worn doors and windows with new black frames and installing a family-friendly kitchen.

A personal project, Lynne oversaw the renovation of her own home which she and her husband Gavin bought before they got married.
